The R&A Golf Event – media guides

Over the busy summer, we designed a number of Media Guides for golf events. This year, we have produced three: The Open Media Guide, The AIG Women’s Open Media Guide and The Walker Cup Media Guide. Each one uses official branding and is designed to complement the event it’s accompanying.

In the Guide for The Open, work is started very early in the year, as it’s usually over 200 pages. Editorial content is included to assist the media attending the event and it’s usually a combination of player stats, results from Open Qualifying Series events as well as a detailed record of results and scores from all Opens dating back to 1860. There is also a review of all previous Opens played at that year’s venue.

Both the AIG Women’s Open and The Walker Cup Media Guides are fewer pages than The Open but still include player profiles, stats, results from previous events and a guide to the host club.

For all of these jobs, we are given copy by The R&A to artwork. Pages are supplied to them for proofing and approval. When all pages are approved the job is supplied as a complete digital file for use at the event.

The PPL Group also publish souvenir programmes and handbooks for many iconic sporting events.
